Stromatoporida, extinct order of corals found as fossils in marine rocks of Cambrian to Cretaceous age (542 million to 65.5 million years ago). The stromatoporidian corals were colonial forms that consisted of dense laminated masses of calcium carbonate; some forms constructed reeflike masses.
