Denis Stairs specializes in Canadian foreign and defence policy, Canada-U.S. Relations, and similar subjects at Dalhousie University, Halifax. A former President of the Canadian Political Science Association, he was the founding Director of the CFPS, and served (1980-85) as Chair of the Department of Political Science, and as Dalhousie's Vice-President (Academic & Research) from 1988 to 1993. He became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 1979, and was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2006.
