Steven Chu is the William R. Kenan, Jr., Professor of Physics at Stanford University and a professor of molecular and cellular physiology at Stanford's Medical School. He was corecipient of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1997 and then served as U.S. Secretary of Energy (2009-13) in the administration of Pres. Barack Obama. He also served as the director of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California.
