Question
The difference between "I" and "me"
Answer
Cadey asked about the difference between me and I.
Both me and I are 1st person singular pronouns, which means that they are used by one person to refer to himself or herself.
I is the subject pronoun, which means that it is used as the subject of a verb, the one "doing" the verb, as in these examples:
- I am studying for a Russian test.
- I can speak Russian, but I can't read it very well.
Me is the object pronoun, which means that it is used as the receiver of the action of the verb, as in these examples:
- My math teacher encouraged me to come after school for extra help.
- She asked me to bring my homework.
Me can also be used as the object of a preposition, such as to or with, as in these examples:
- When Julia didn't need her coffee table anymore, she gave it to me.
- Do you want to come with me to the movies?
I hope this helps.
