Answer

Question

What is a whistle-blower?

Answer

A whistle-blower is a person working at a company, government agency, or other workplace, who tells people outside the organization about criminal or unethical activity that has been kept secret.

The expression comes from the way people use whistles to draw attention to something bad that has happened, for example, when a referee in sports blows a whistle to indicate an illegal action by a player.
