A Estrada, town, Pontevedra provincia (province), in the comunidad autónoma (autonomous community) of Galicia, northwestern Spain. It lies in a densely populated mountainous area about 15 miles (24 km) southeast of Santiago de Compostela. Its industries include lumbering and processing of dairy products. The surrounding area contains a Romanesque church at Moreira and the manor house and gardens of Oca (16th–17th centuries). Just north of the town is the picturesque gorge of San Xóan de Cova on the Ulla River. Pop. (2008 est.) 8,291.
