Anamudi, peak in eastern Kerala state, southwestern India. Located in the Western Ghats range, it rises to 8,842 feet (2,695 meters) and is peninsular India’s highest peak. From this point radiate three ranges—the Anamalai to the north, the Palani to the northeast, and the Cardamom Hills to the south. Several rivers, including the Periyar and Amaravati, rise in the surrounding ranges. Anamudi region is a popular destination for trekking.
