Bahawalnagar, town, east-central Punjab province, Pakistan. The town lies just east of the Sutlej River. It is a market distributing centre connected by road with Multan to the west and Bahawalpur to the southwest and also by rail with the latter. Amenities include several government colleges affiliated with the University of the Punjab.

The surrounding region, once a part of the princely state of Bahawalpur, is composed primarily of an alluvial tract lying for the most part in the lowlands of the Sutlej valley. Wheat, rice, sorghum, and cotton are the chief crops. Pop. (1998 prelim.) town, 109,642.
