Fronting the Tanon Strait on the east, the port accommodates oceangoing vessels and is the shipping centre for sugar refined in Bais. The Sacred Heart Academy, a Roman Catholic liberal arts college, was founded in 1947. A pulp and paper mill is the other principal industry in Bais. Inc. city, 1968. Pop.
