Jhunjhunun, city, northeastern Rajasthan state, northwestern India. It is situated in the Rajasthan Steppe, a semiarid sandy plain, about 30 miles (48 km) southeast of Churu.

Jhunjhunun is a local trade centre for wool, cattle, hides, and gram (chickpeas). The city’s major industries include a dye factory and woolen mills. It houses the mausoleum of Qamar al-Dīn Shah, patron saint of the Kamkhani sect, as well as a 10th-century Jain temple. The city has a hospital and a college affiliated with the University of Rajasthan in Jaipur.

The surrounding area is largely agricultural. Bajra (pearl millet), gram (chickpeas), mung (the green or yellow edible seeds of an Asian bean), and barley are among the region’s chief crops. Pop. (2001) 100,485; (2011) 118,473.
