Kovrov, city, Vladimir oblast (region), western Russia. It lies along the right bank of the Klyazma River just above the latter’s confluence with the Uvod. The city has been a centre of the textile industry since the 18th century, specializing in cotton cloth, but the most important industry now is heavy engineering. Excavators, motorcycles, milling machinery, and weighing machines also are made. Pop. (2006 est.) 151,610.
