Sir William Jenner, 1st Baronet (born Jan. 30, 1815, Chatham, Kent, Eng.—died Dec. 11, 1898, Bishop’s Waltham, Hampshire) was a physician and anatomist best known for his clinico-pathologic distinction between typhus and typhoid fevers, although he was preceded in this work by others. His paper on the subject was published in 1849. Jenner taught at the University of London and served as physician and consultant to several hospitals. He was physician to Queen Victoria and to the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII).
