Nørresundby, city and port, northern Jutland, Denmark, on the Limfjorden opposite the city of Ålborg. The two cities are connected by two bridges and a tunnel that cross the fjord. Although Nørresundby has meatpacking and chemical industries, it is mainly a residential suburb of Ålborg. To the north of the city are the remains of redoubts that were built during the Thirty Years’ War and a cemetery of more than 80 Viking “ship monuments,” graves enclosed by standing stones in the form of ships.
