delafossite
delafossite, metallic, black copper and iron oxide (CuFeO2) that is found as a secondary mineral associated with other oxide minerals of copper and iron in Sonora, Mex.; Pedroso, Spain; and Pfaffenreuth, Ger. It is abundant in Bisbee, Ariz., and also occurs in Nevada and Idaho. For detailed physical properties, see oxide mineral (table).
