Monasterboice, ruins of an ancient monastic settlement founded by Buitre (died 521) 5 miles (8 km) north of Drogheda, County Louth, Ireland. The relics, dating from the 5th to the 12th century, comprise two churches, a round tower (one of the highest in Ireland), three sculptured crosses, two tombstones, and a sundial.
