Nick Carraway, fictional character, the compassionate young narrator of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby (1925). As Jay Gatsby’s neighbour in West Egg, Long Island, Carraway has ample opportunity to observe the unfortunate Gatsby as he pursues his version of the American dream.
