Gukovo

Gukovo, city, Rostov oblast (province), southwestern Russia. It is one of the centres of the coal industry in the Donets Basin and is located in the eastern part of the coalfield. Construction is also important, employing one-quarter of the labour force. A technical college in the city is devoted to the mining industry. Pop. (2006 est.) 68,619.
