Musée de l’Homme, in Paris, museum and library of ethnography and anthropology. It was founded in 1878 and is supported by the state.

The institution is attached to the National Museum of Natural History and has a professional staff that engages in postgraduate instruction and supervision of research. It covers physical, social, and cultural anthropology from all over the world except France, and it contains exceptional collections made by the French kings until the mid-19th century and during the early colonial times.
