Jimaní, city, southwestern Dominican Republic. It is situated in a hilly region between the western shore of Lake Enriquillo and the border with Haiti. The city is a trade centre for the coffee, fruits, and timber produced in the region. Jimaní is accessible by secondary highway from communities in both the Dominican Republic and Haiti. In 2004, flooding and mudslides devastated the city and killed hundreds of people. Pop. (2002) urban area, 5,842; (2010) urban area, 10,026.
