Kanin Peninsula, peninsula in Arkhangelsk oblast (province), northwestern Russia. It separates the White Sea to the west from the Cheshskaya Guba (Bay), a gulf of the Barents Sea, to the east. It has an area of about 4,000 sq mi (10,500 sq km). Except in the north, where the Kanin Kamen runs northwest–southeast, the peninsula is a flat, marshy, tundra plain of glacial and marine deposits. Numerous morainic hills rise to 230–260 ft (70–80 m).
