Mandaue
Mandaue, city, east-central Cebu island, Philippines. It lies along the coast of the Camotes Sea just northeast of the city of Cebu, which it serves as an industrial suburb. Mandaue guards the northern entrance to Cebu harbour opposite Mactan Island. It was founded by Jesuits in the 17th century. The city has a brewery and a number of diversified manufacturing and processing industries in its industrial park, including sugar refining and food processing. Fishing is important to the economy, and there is a small boatbuilding industry as well. Inc. city, 1969. Pop. (2000) 259,728; (2010) 331,320.
