Paru River
Paru River, river, northern Brazil, rising on the southern slopes of the Tumuc-Humac Mountains, on the Suriname border, and flowing for about 500 miles (800 km) south-southeastward through ParĂ¡ state. It empties into the lower Amazon River just above Almeirim. The Paru is navigable for 50 miles (80 km) above its mouth.
