Bucheon, city, Gyeonggi do (province), northwestern South Korea, located halfway between Seoul and Incheon. It became a municipality in 1973 and developed rapidly as a satellite city of Seoul. Industries include the manufacture of chemicals, semiconductors, machinery, lighting, and plastics. The surrounding area is well known for its peaches.
