Pyryatyn

Pyryatyn, city, east-central Ukraine, on the Uday River. Pyryatyn dates at least from 1155, when it is first documented, and was incorporated in 1781. Before the Russian Revolution of 1917, it was an administrative centre and later became a railway junction. Its varied industries have produced such goods as furniture, building materials, and foodstuffs. Pop. (2006 est.) 16,089.
