Rovenky
Rovenky, city, southeastern Ukraine. Rovenky is 37 miles (60 km) south of the city of Luhansk on the Debaltseve-Likhovsky rail line. It was first documented in 1705 as the Cossack settlement of Osykovy Rovenyok, located on a Ukrainian frontier defense line. It was incorporated as a city in 1934. Rovenky is situated in a coal-mining area. Other important industries have included food processing, woodworking, and stone products manufacturing. The city has a museum of local history. Pop. (2001) 53,725; (2005 est.) 51,893.
