Saharsa

Saharsa, city, east-central Bihar state, northeastern India. It is situated just east of the Kosi River.

The city is a major rail and road hub and has an electric power station. It was constituted a municipality in 1961. The surrounding region consists of fertile alluvial plains irrigated by the Kosi and its tributaries. Rice, corn (maize), oilseeds, and jute are the principal crops. Pop.
