Saidpur, city, northwestern Bangladesh. It lies about 50 miles (80 km) west of Rangpur.
Saidpur is a jute-processing and export centre. It is a major railway terminus, containing large railway workshops. Crops grown in the vicinity include rice, jute, wheat, eggplants, potatoes, onions, garlic, other assorted vegetables, tobacco, and ginger. Most of these are among the city’s main exports along with processed foods, such as biscuits and toffee, and aluminum goods. Saidpur has several colleges. Pop. (2001) 112,609; (2011) 123,712.
