University of the South
University of the South, Private university in Sewanee, Tennessee, U.S., founded in 1857. Though affiliated with the Episcopal church, its teaching program is independent. It has a college of arts and sciences and a school of theology, which offers master’s and doctoral programs. Its literary journal, The Sewanee Review, was founded in 1892.
