Common tarweed (Madia elegans)

tarweed, any sticky, hairy plant of the genus Madia of the family Asteraceae, consisting of about 18 species. They are native to western North and South America.

A few species are grown as garden plants for their yellow or brownish yellow flowers and strong odour. The madia oil plant (M. sativa) is raised in Chile for its oil content.
