Church Buttes
Church Buttes, eroded sandstone cliffs in Uinta county, extreme southwestern Wyoming, about 45 miles (72 km) west-southwest of Rock Springs. Named by Mormon pioneers for their steeple-like needles, the buttes rise 75 feet (23 metres) above the surrounding hills, to an elevation of 6,351 feet (1,936 metres).
