On December 30, 1609, Elizabeth Báthory and her servants were arrested. The servants, accused of aiding her in torture and murder, were put on trial in 1611; three were executed. Báthory, though never tried, was confined to Castle Csejte (now C̆achtice), reportedly kept in a bricked-in room. There she died in 1614 at age 54.
