“Y.M.C.A.” has been controversially used as the closing for Donald Trump’s political rallies during his presidential campaigns. The Village People’s lead singer and the song’s cowriter Victor Willis on several occasions asked Trump to stop using the song. However, a new lineup of the group, including Willis, performed it at Trump’s inauguration party in 2025.
