U.S. troops captured Adolf Eichmann when World War II ended, but he escaped in 1946 and settled in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1958. Israeli Mossad agents seized him there and smuggled him out of Argentina to stand trial in Israel. After an eight-month trial he was found guilty. He was hanged in 1962.
