The colours of the Empire State Building lighting system change to reflect major holidays and celebrations throughout the year. This tradition has been in place since 1976, when the skyscraper’s first lighting system was installed. In 2012 a new LED lighting system was installed that allowed the building to exhibit millions of colours.
