Brad Pitt, (born Dec. 18, 1963, Shawnee, Okla., U.S.), U.S. actor. After a series of minor roles, he garnered attention as a charming scoundrel in Thelma & Louise (1991). Pitt became a leading man with such movies as A River Runs Through It (1992) and Legends of the Fall (1994) but avoided being typecast by assuming unorthodox roles in 12 Monkeys (1995) and Fight Club (1999). His other notable films included Se7en (1995), the Ocean’s trilogy (2001, 2004, and 2007), Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008), Moneyball (2011), 12 Years a Slave (2013), and The Big Short (2015). In addition, he appeared in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds (2009) and Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood (2019; Academy Award). Pitt was active in various humanitarian causes.
