Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), international organization of engineers and scientists in electrical engineering, electronics, and allied fields, formed in 1963 by merger of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers (founded 1884) and the Institute of Radio Engineers (founded 1912). It publishes the monthly Journal of Quantum Electronics and other journals. Headquarters are in New York City.
