Notable species include the sturgeon poacher (Podothecus acipenserinus), a large, common, northern Pacific poacher, and the hook-nose, pogge, or armed bullhead (Agonus cataphractus), a small fish common in northern Europe and one of the few poachers found outside the Pacific.
