Gregory Olsen Endowed Chair and University Distinguished Professor of Computer Science and at Fairleigh  Dickinson University, Teaneck, New Jersey, USA.  He is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Management Information Systems  and International Journal of Electronic Commerce. The author of six books, he holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Columbia University.

A simple feedforward neural networkIn a simple feedforward neural network, all signals flow in one direction, from input to output. Input neurons receive signals from the environment and in turn send signals to neurons in the “hidden” layer. Whether any particular neuron sends a signal, or “fires,” depends on the combined strength of signals received from the preceding layer.
