Brendan McCarthy is arts editor of The Tablet, a weekly journal. He was formerly a producer with the BBC and with the Irish broadcasting service RTE. His work appears in Encyclopaedia Britannica as part of a joint publishing agreement with the publisher of 1001 Buildings You Must See Before You Die, where the work originally appeared.
