Amapala, port, southwestern Honduras, on Isla de Tigre (Tiger Island) in the Gulf of Fonseca. It is the main Pacific port of Honduras, serving both coastal and overseas trade. The coastal marshes abound in wild ducks, and there is deep-sea fishing in the Pacific waters of the gulf. Pop. (2001) 2,482; (2013) 2,090.
