Chersky Range, range running northwest to southeast through the Sakha republic and Magadan oblast (province), Russia. The range, extending more than 900 miles (1,500 km), forms a part of the extensive Verkhoyansk mountain system and comprises a series of highly dissected parallel ranges with several peaks about 10,000 feet (3,000 metres) above sea level (e.g., Mount Pobeda [Victory], 10,325 feet [3,147 metres]). The upper courses of the Kolyma and Indigirka rivers flow along narrow valleys between the ranges, cutting through them in majestic gorges. The southern part of the Chersky Range is a series of plateaus separated by depressions.
