Derry City and Strabane, district, northwestern Northern Ireland. It is bounded to the north by Lough Foyle, to the northeast by the Causeway Coast and Glens district, to the east by the Mid Ulster district, to the south by the Fermanagh and Omagh district, and to the west and northwest by the republic of Ireland. The district’s administrative body, the Derry City and Strabane District Council, meets in Londonderry (Derry). Derry City and Strabane was created in 2015 by the merger of the districts of Derry and Strabane. Pop. (2011) 147,720.
