Kotto River, river rising on the border between the Central African Republic and South Sudan in north-central Africa. It flows 400 miles (640 km) south, southwest, and south again past Bria, Central African Republic, to join the Ubangi River 60 miles (100 km) east of Mobaye. The river separates the Tondou Massif from the higher Mongos (Bongo) chain to the north. There are several rapids along its course.
