Rosso, town, southwestern Mauritania, on the Sénégal River. It lies on the road between Saint-Louis, Senegal, and Nouakchott, Mauritania.

Rosso serves as the centre for an agricultural area that produces gum arabic, millet, corn (maize), beans, melons, and livestock. Pop. (2000) 48,922.
