Srikakulam, city, northeastern Andhra Pradesh state, southern India. The city lies on a low-lying plain along the Nagavali River, about 5 miles (8 km) from the Bay of Bengal.
Srikakulam once served as the capital of a Muslim region that was known as the Northern Circārs (Northern Sarkārs). Of historical interest is the mosque there, which was constructed in 1641. The city is connected by major roads to Visakhapatnam to the southwest and Bhubaneshwar in Odisha state to the northeast. It has several government colleges that are affiliated with Andhra University in Vizianagaram. Pop. (2001) 109,905; (2011) 125,939.
