Atlantic puffins - also known as clowns of the sea. They have returned to their breeding sites on the Shetland Isles. It’s mating season and the stocky little birds have donned their colorful bills.
Reunited partners affirm their bond with a little courtship dance. This beak-rubbing ritual often attracts inquisitive neighbors. Others are busy gathering grass to line the nest hole. Puffins usually return to the same breeding colony each year, and often even to the same burrow.
