Some conspiracy theorists believe that members of the U.S. government orchestrated the 9/11 attacks, but a bipartisan commission found al-Qaeda completely responsible for the attacks, and Osama bin Laden also maintained that he and the rest of al-Qaeda were responsible.
Conspiracy theorists have claimed - with no evidence - that Jewish people, with the support of Israel, arranged the 9/11 attacks. Despite these conspiracy theorists' claims, the proportion of Jewish people living in New York approximately matched the proportion of Jews among the victims of the attacks. This conspiracy theory has been denounced as both anti-Semitic and false.
Despite the repeated debunking of 9/11 conspiracy theories, several prominent public figures have supported them, including Ralph Nader, Howard Zinn, and Cynthia McKinney.
