During his childhood Bertrand Russell was educated at home. In 1890 he entered Trinity College, Cambridge, where he studied mathematics and philosophy, graduating with first-class honours in both (1893 and 1894, respectively) and winning a fellowship in the latter in 1895. That year he briefly attended lectures in economics at the University of Berlin.
Where was Bertrand Russell educated?
What was Bertrand Russell’s childhood like?
Bertrand Russell’s childhood was grief-stricken and lonely. His mother and sister died when he was two years old, and his father died some 18 months later. He and his brother, Frank, were cared for by their paternal grandparents, but their grandfather died soon after Bertrand’s sixth birthday. Educated at home, he was isolated from other children.
