Bicosoecida Small, biflagellate unicellular ingestive heterotrophs. Lack plastids; phagotrophic with the cytostome supported by broad microtubular rootlet. Cells often attached to surfaces by the posterior flagellum. Most live in loricae. Includes marine and freshwater taxa. May be solitary or colonial. Hypochytriales Absorptive heterotrophs.
