Rainforest Alliance, international organization dedicated to conserving biodiversity and promoting environmentally sustainable and socially just practices in the farming and forestry industries, primarily in rainforests, in over 60 countries. The organization was founded in 1986. It gives its “seal of approval” to certain consumer products, such as wood, paper, coffee, and bananas, that it certifies were produced in accordance with specific environmental and human-rights standards.
